The Travels of Henry Mercer:
700 Miles by Boat

The exhibit will consist of scenic vignettes and immersive installations of Henry Mercer’s travels to France on a houseboat in 1889. Multi-sensory experiences include exploring the house boat, hearing music and the sounds of life on the boat, bathing in the light of projected video and images, listening to dramatized recordings of conversations, and entering a recreation of a cave where Mercer developed his glass lantern slides.

PROJECT:
Design and prototype two immersive scenes from Henry Mercer’s travels to France by houseboat. The first scene is based off of Mercer’s journal entry that described his experience weathering a storm on the Rhône river.
